I started a new project recently. I emailed a wide variety of economists and asked this question:

If you could change just one thing about economic policy in the US, what would it be and why?

I am compiling the answers on a seperate page titled Just One Thing. The goal of the project is to identify the really important things for our economy. So far, I’ve only received a few answers, but they have come from some well-known economists. I find it very interesting that the only economists who answered consider themselves libertarians or conservatives. Part of the reason for that is no-doubt my own libertarian leanings, but I made a point of emailing a large number of economists with a wide variety of political views. I’m not sure what that says about libertarians or more importantly, all the others. Draw your own conclusions.
